Purge Cup, 4" Diameter. Purging equipment for the backside of the weld on Ti & NiCrMo3 and Stainless Steel can be expensive. Mr. TIG Purge Cups are portable and designed to maximize flow and diffuse high purity Argon minimizing (ugly blue color that causes ebrittlement) oxidation on the backside of the weld. They are also great for purge enclosures to lessen mixing of autmospheric gases and reduce purge times.
Details: When welding with refractory metals, a secondary inert shielding gass application is necessary to protect the cooling weld bead and heat-affected zone. Purge cups prevent oxidation by shielding the backside of weld from the atmosphere until it has cooled to a safe temperature.
